Arriving in Cappadocia: Sultan Cave Suites and Day Tours

From our landing in Kayseri, we had a shuttle to Sultan Cave Suites in Göreme, Turkey. When we arrived at Sultan Cave Suites, we had to walk down this alleyway to find the hotel lobby, which was on a separate deck. It was fairly confusing. When we did get into the lobby, we were greeted by the clerk and he was asking if we wanted to book anything, like tours or the balloons. He told us that the balloons were not flying and helped us book flights for the next day. Then he suggested the green and red tours in which he could help schedule for us. He showed us the route for both Green and Red and had the bellhop took us to our room and told us to call when we had decided.

We headed to our chamber and we were amazed by the suite. It seemed pretty dark in the room, but it was still beautiful. I loved that the suit was in a cave it made the experience much better. It didn’t feel like a luxurious suite, but it gave you a sense of adventure. Cappadocia is not just about the Hot Air Balloon shoots out on the terrace at Sultan Cave Suits it’s the hikes and the knowledge you learn while on your trip. Having a cave-like room adds to the effect of your adventure.

History of Istanbul - Part Two

My favourite history lesson was in my grade 12 History class (I know I was a nerd), and we began our lecture with the crusade in Constantinople. This took place in 1096. The goal was to take back the Holy Land from the Muslim rule. The ruler at this time was Alexios I Komnenos emperor of the Byzantine empire. Pope Urban II had begun this conquest and began the first of many. This was caused by the Byzantine empire expanding over the Holy Land.
